TikTok Emoji Challenge, Snowflake look

Hello again everyone.

This is the moment we have all been waiting for, (or maybe just me). My final emoji look, the snowflake. With this emoji, I just really wanted to not only include an actual snowflake on my face, (or multiple), but I really wanted to look icy. I absolutely LOVED this look! It was by far my favorite (if you can’t tell, I’m into dramatic makeup).

For this look, I used a TON of highlighter. I, of course, started my look with my holy grail primer, the Tatcha silk canvas primer. I did NOT use foundation at all for this look. I decided to use the sephora collection eyeshadow pencil in white all over where I would be essentially “highlighting”. That’s the center of my forehead, down the middle of my nose, my cheekbones and higher, on my cupids bow and then my chin. I blended it in with myfinger.

I then “contoured” my face with shades of deep blue and purple from the Morphe James Charles Palette. I started with the dark blue and faded the contour with a dark, sparkly purple shade. I wanted to look more Icy, so I used the KVD alchemist highlighting palette and put that on top of where I placed the white eyeshadow. I also used the white eyeshadow on my eyebrows to “freeze” them out. I decided to go for a sliver to blue cut crease on my eyes with my sharp wing from my favorite benefit push up liner in black. I actually used lancome lash primer to make my eyelashes white.

Next, was the snowflakes. I wanted them FALLING on my face. I started out with creating a snowflake shape with a dark blue shadow to make the snowflake pop out on my skin. I used the same sephora white eyeshadow crayon to fill in on top of the dark blue shadow of the snowflake. I ADORED how the snowflakes looked. I had to add glitter somewhere, I used the urban decay Heavy Metal face and body glitter on top of the eyebrows and here and there around the face to make it look like more snow falling on my face.

I threw on a long blonde wig and I was just obsessed with the look! Let me know which look was your favorite in the comments below and also, should I do another emoji challenge?

Until we meet again,

Yesie Marie

P.S. The emoji challenge looks were not sponsored, all the products used were purchased by myself or gratis from a previous job. My opinions and descriptions are my own, please use discretion when deciding products appropriate for your skin type and style.

TikTok Emoji challenge, Sunflower look.

Hello again everyone,

So, here we are again, part two of my emoji challenge. I am having too much fun with this and I have to say, I feel like I am getting the hang of this makeup tiktok life (even though the tiktoks of me annoying my husband get better views, but that’s another story). One thing I noticed, if you want to share your post on instagram from tiktok, you have to make a shorter video. The struggle is real trying to get as much of you actually doing the makeup and showing the product, but that’s what this blog is for!

Now, let’s talk about the look. I LOVED this look. Once again, I started with my holy grail, Tatcha’s silk canvas primer (I heard on trendmood they are coming out with a silk canvas setting powder and I can’t wait)! For foundation, I used nars foundation in Santa fe, concealed with tarte shape tape (duh) in light medium honey. I have this BEAUTIFUL face pallet from becca called the be a light pallet that is no longer sold, as my setting powder, bronzer, blush and under eye luminizer. I wish they still sold this product because it is STUNNING on all skin types. I used Urban decay brow beater in brunette betty to fill and a benefit gimme brow in shade 3 to lift and give that fluffy brow look that the youngsters are into (no, I am not THAT old, but I grew up during many scary brow eras).

Next, the eyes. I used a mixture of my sugarpill buttercupcake eyeshadow and Norvina Volume three pallet shades of yellow orange and brown. I decided to create a sunflower on one eyelid, and use the same shades to create a beautifully blended out dramatic eye. For the eyeliner, I used my other holy grail product, my benefit push up liner in black. I know, I know, most of you may have tried it, and hated it, but I gave it a chance and it is my GO TO for that sharp eyeliner. I used Lilly lashes hey sis lashes which are these super beautiful flared out but fluffy lashes to keep the eye looking bold but pretty. I used too faced Melted liquid lipstick in shade queen bee for the lips and set that face with urban decay all nighter setting spray.

Now I wanted this kind of boho look so I created a braid in my hair and added a bellami ponytail extension (since my hair is on the shorter side) in color ash bronde and braided that very loosely and I think I have a new favorite hairstyle! Let me know if you would want a tutorial on this hairstyle since its SUPER simple!

If you guys want to shop for any of these products, do what I do. I went on Rakuten and shopped from Sephora and ulta and got some cash back! I ADORED this look and I hope you all do too. Stay tuned for the deets on my snowflake emoji challenge!

TikTok emoji challenge Alien makeup.

Hello again everyone!

It’s good to be back. Seems like I’m always on a hiatus, and you know what, that may be true #momlifeduringpandemic. I promise, I will try my hardest to keep up with the content, Starting today!

Tiktok has taken over the social media world, and I’m all about it. I love how short and to the point the videos are. It’s fairly simple to edit and you get to use fun audio! What’s not to like?! I am still on my makeup game, so I decided to follow up with a #emojichallenge that I watched Nicol Concilio do. Everyone knows I love a makeup challenge, so why not!

I went on my Instagram (Yesiemariemua27) and asked my followers to choose between 6 emojis and I would create a makeup look based off of my interpretation of that emoji. The first emoji chosen was the Alien head emoji, next was a sunflower, and last was a snowflake. Since the tiktoks are so short but simple (Yesiemarie27), I decided I would go more in depth with a description of the looks here.

Look one: Alien head. I wanted green green and green with hints of blue. I started with my all time favorite primer Tatcha’s silk canvas primer. That baby smooths the skin and prevents any makeup from seeping into my pores and for looks like this one, I need to protect my skin.

I used the Norvina pro pigment volume 2 for all of the blue and green shades. I wanted some weird and oval contours throughout my face so I created that with the darkest green color, and blended out with a light blue and green mixture. I wanted to have an alien like silver/white highlight so I used a makeup forever paint pallet white shade and used my finger to kind of smudge and highlight around the green.

I had a too faced Melted liquid lipstick in a dark green (I do not hate when it comes to lip colors, I own them ALL lol) that I blended with a lime crime mint green shade.

My least favorite part (I will always be honest in my makeup struggles to keep it real) the eyes. I used the MUFE black paint and outlined the alien-esque eyes with a thin liner brush. My struggle was blending the lashes so they looked invisible, and I have two different shaped eyes, so it was hard to make these eyes perfectly symmetrical no matter how hard I tried. I still liked the look so I went forward and posted it ( go check it out and like it, again its Yesiemarie27). Check out some of the images of the looks below.

If you guys want to shop for any of these products, do what I do. I went on Rakuten and shopped from Sephora and ulta and got some cash back! Use this link to get $20 for spending $20! https://www.rakuten.com/r/YESENI7172?eeid=44749 (current promo may change but you always get deals and cash back from shopping online!)

I love doing these makeup challenges. It gives me something fun to look forward to and to help me interact with my friends/followers. Let me know what you guys think and I’ll keep posting on these looks and more here!

Mom life: The nursing chronicles, PART ONE.

Since becoming a mother, I realized there are a lot of things up for debate amongst parents and non parents alike: Bed times, sleep training, behavioral training methods etc. The one I will be discussing today is, NURSING.

So, before becoming a mother, the whole nursing thing was a weird, but straight forward concept. You feed your baby boob juice for the first few months of its life when you are at home, and then you are done when baby eats solids. Seems simple enough right? WRONG! There’s SO much more to it.

It first starts during delivery. Nurses came into my room right before I started pushing and asked if I wanted to breast feed the baby or formula feed. My answer was always simple, I will try to breast feed the baby if that’s what she chose. I understood that there were baby’s and mothers that had a hard time nursing and just couldn’t nurse no matter how hard they tried. I didn’t want to add any stress to myself or the baby so I figured I would go with the flow. The nurses told me that when the baby first comes out, they would place her on my chest and see if she would latch and we would go from there. My girl cried for a minute and went straight on, with no problem.

First nursing session went great, I told my husband, “that was a piece of cake”. Those were words I would soon regret. I found out that my child had a very strong latch which initially caused me bleeding and pain. My girl could nurse all day if she wanted to. There were lactation consultants coming in and ensuring I was nursing her properly and advised me to use lanolin if I continued to feel pain. They also advised me to nurse on demand, that is the best option for mom and baby. Well, my baby demanded ALL THE TIME.

When I got home from the hospital, nursing was still causing me pain so I decided to go to a lactation consultation again to ensure everything was ok. I was doing it right, but I had to find different ways to ease the pain. I almost gave up because I would be in so much pain. I ordered nipple covers that would allow the baby to nurse without direct contact and those helped a little but I would forget to clean one and not use it for the next feeding. I started pumping which was a confusing situation on its own. I would look down and wonder, how the hell do I use this contraption? I spoke to some mom pro’s (aka my sister in laws) who helped me figure it out and I began to pump after feedings so that I could have my husband feed her when I was still in pain. It took three weeks for the pain to go away and that was HEAVENLY. Baby and I were rocking it out.

I spoke to my doctors and we decided I would try and primarily nurse my girl until she was around 6 months and would pump a supply so that I could go back to work and still have my girl with my milk and no formula. No one told me I would hold this pride grudge over formula. Just hearing the words “give her formula” would make my blood boil because I had tried SO hard just to nurse her that I did not want to give up. Going back to work and pumping were VERY rough. It would take up so much time during my lunch to pump and so many things to pack to work with me EVERY DAY, but I did it. It was exhausting to say the least and one day I decided I would finally add formula to help relieve some stress from pumping. I didn’t stop nursing her, she would not have it, but I supplemented with formula after 6 months.

Here’s where it gets complicated and the whole world gets involved. My daughter is now seventeen months old and I am still nursing her. Can she eat solids, you bet she can. Does she still want to nurse and drink moms magic boob juice, you bet she does. This was something I never thought that I would do. I only thought I would be able to nurse up to 6 months and when I would work that would stop. I thought magically one day we would stop nursing and all would be good. My daughter had other plans.

To be honest, sometimes I am okay with this and sometimes it is exhausting. It’s a great bonding tool. I love snuggling with my little one. The exhausting part is, my work schedule is NEVER consistent which means her schedule can be out of wack since she is waiting for me to come home. She misses me so much that when she see’s me, no matter where I am, immediately she wants to nurse. She can be in the car and want to nurse but we can’t so she will have a fit until I can nurse her. Nights that she misses me the most, she will keep me up because she wants to snuggle and nurse all night which means I get no sleep.

Here’s the problem I have. People think that they have a say in my and my own child’s decision to nurse. Every day at work, I would hear “oh my gosh, you are still nursing, don’t you want to stop” or “when are you going to stop nursing?” Or even better, “she’s a big girl now, you don’t need to nurse her anymore”. OK PEOPLE, when did you start paying my bills for my food, when did you start making decisions about what I feed my child or do with my own body? I originally did not set myself up to continue nursing her, she made that decision, and I am okay with that. People tell me all the time, “you are the mom, you can stop her” and yes, they are right, but I am her mom, and I chose to listen to her and make a decision when its right FOR THE BOTH OF US. I don’t want to cut her off completely when I know it’s something that she wants and needs. I see how upset she gets when she wants to nurse and can’t. I try and distract her or give her an alternative but she refuses until she nurses. To me, she’s just not ready to fully stop, and that is ok.

It is proven all the benefits of nursing up to two years, and I can attest to the great work it has done for my child. She is so smart and learning more and more by the second. I am grateful to have the option to continue nursing her because I know the struggle of nursing and that there are moms who wish they could. I also understand moms who don’t want to nurse. This blog is not about mom shaming mothers who choose to formula feed, this blog is in support of mothers who decide to do what is best for them and their child because in the end, it is the mother and child’s decision to do what is best.

I am so tired of hearing things that other nursing moms have to deal with. The struggles of finding a place to pump or nurse that is “appropriate” and comfortable. The stigma surrounding something so natural and beneficial that most people have benefited from themselves just really bothers me. Being a mom who has nursed longer than a year, it never gets easier to hear or deal with things that others say when they realize you are still nursing. You get used to it, but its never easy. I get pleasantly surprised and overjoyed by the mothers that do come around and celebrate with me, or have told me their stories so that I did not feel alone. It is almost always a new mom that has always come to my side and comforted me, because they understand what it is like to be a new mom. We are out there, and we do believe in each other and support one another. That’s what I want this blog to do, help someone like me out there understand that YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB, if you are a nursing mom, a formula mom, any mom, YOU ARE DOING GREAT and I am proud of you.

MOMS ROCK!

Until we meet again,

Beauty Review: KKW x Mario Eyeshadow Palette.

IMG_8265

Hello everyone and welcome to my newest beauty review! So a few weeks ago, I was with baby, watching YouTube and I saw SO MANY tutorials and reviews on the KKW x Mario palette. I was super intrigued since this is my type of color palette, so I wanted to try it. My lovely husband Phil caught me talking about it and ordered it for me (shout out to you Phil, you are the real M.V.P.)!

IMG_8251

While the baby was sleeping, I decided to create two looks for you guys to see the quality of the palette.  Now this palette has a beautiful mixture of warm neutrals with both shimmer and matte shades with a pop of color with a blue and plum shade. So far seems SUPER versatile. I decided to do a blue smokey eye and a neutral glitter crease eye.

These looks were easy to achieve as I only had 30 min of baby sleeping to create them lol. The pigment is great on most of the shadows but for me personally, I wish the blue was more pigmented. I really had to layer the blue to get the color payoff that I wanted. I still loved the outcome though.

The neutral glitter eye was super easy to do and I ADORE this look. It’s something I feel like I can easily do any day. I did not do my traditional liner, I used the blue shadow as liner and I believe you can see what I mean about the color payoff here. I know different techniques to make it more “POW” but for this review, I just wanted to try it as is. Since the pigments are amazing, there is one downfall…FALLOUT. This is the usual situation for smoothe pigments. I can easily clean up fall out so it’s not too much of an issue for me, but it can be troublesome for others so, beware of fallout!

I personally would recommend this palette to any makeup lover out there as it is a good staple piece to have in your kit or collection! (Please do not mind my phone photos, I wanted to quietly and quickly take these pics while baby was sleeping).

Where have I been?

Hello world!

It’s me, Yesie Marie and I am back again. I know, I know, I’ve been slacking a bit. Let me tell you, I have a good reason for it! Since the last time I posted, I have gotten married and had a beautiful baby girl. Yes, a whole new life now!

I am still majorly focused on beauty, skincare and fitness,  but now I can add wife and mother to my blogging experience! I figured there are a lot of people out there who have questions about weddings and babies, and I am more than happy to HONESTLY help you all out.

Let me tell you, there are A LOT of things that people do not honestly tell you when it comes to wedding planning or being pregnant. Yes, it is all personal experience but upon asking other wives and moms, I have found that they all have experienced similar things to what I have.  The only difference is they experienced it in secret because they believed they were the only ones!

I want to be your online confidant, for all things beauty, skincare, fitness, wife and mom related. I guess you can call me your friendly lifestyle blogger! I am on maternity leave for a bit, so what better time to restart this blog than while my daughter is sleeping on my chest and I am enjoying every second of her existence! And yes, babies really do smell like love, happiness and unicorn dreams, with just a hint of spit up.😍

Please comment and let me know what questions or topics you would like to discuss for future blog entries!! I love a good dialogue! Also, it would really help me out if you can subscribe, like and share my page!!

Haute or Hype: Minute Review on Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lipstick

Haute or Hype product: Smashbox Be Legendary Liquid Lipstick

Price:$24.00

Can be purchased at: Sephora, and smashbox.com

Product claims: Full coverage liquid lipstick and a high pigment, high shine gloss in a wide array of colors.

IMG_9013

Haute or Hype review: Ladies and gents, this product is Haute! I had the opportunity to play around with these products and create a fun and Legendary lip look. With all of the color choices and textures, creating a legendary lip look was easy! They are full colored glosses! Just one swipe and you can see more pigment than your traditional lip gloss. My only Hype factor is that the darker colors bleed unless properly lined, but that’s definitely something I’m willing to work with!

I love everything vibrant and unicorn-Ish so I created two looks with these lip colors that reflected my unicornality (unicorn personality). For the first look, I used Foiled Brat, a metallic burgundy, Space Case, a metallic Grey, and Iced out, a royal Blue with some glitter and gems to emphasize the juicy-ness of these glosses. I LOVED how these glosses photographed and felt. Iced out  did not last too long but I forgot to line (shame on me)!

IMG_9014

When the Iced out faded, I decided to keep the Foiled Brat color but add a more neutral color like Petal Metal, a popular rose gold shade which I ADORE!!! I added some unicornaility to it by placing blue glitter dots and I must say I was OBSESSED with the outcome!!

IMG_9015If you if you haven’t done so by now after reading this review, I say go to Sephora and get these Be Legendary Liquid Lipsticks before they are sold out! They are totally worth it!

If you have any other products you want to find out if its haute or hype, please comment below!

Haute or hype minute review: benefit’s They’re Real mascara

Haute or Hype Product : They’re Real mascara by benefit

Price: $24.00

Can be purchased at: Your local department store, Sephora, online.

Product Claims: To Create volume, Curl, lenghthen and separate eyelashes. This mascara claims to give the appearance of false eylashes on your own natural lashes. (benefit claims)

Haute or hype/review: This product is HAUTE!!! I love this mascara. I already have pretty long lashes but they are very straight. Many other mascaras do not lengthen or curl my lashes. I usualy had to use a curler but honey, not with Benefits They’re Real!!! I applied this mascara on only one of my eyes and let me tell you, the wind blew with every blink. The claims that it lengthens and curls lashes is fact. I did not have to use a curler at all. The only problem is that it can clump easily but for me, that adds volume to my lashes!! I ADORE AND RECOMMED THIS PRODUCT! I assure you, you will love it. It even comes with instructions on how to apply (from lid to end apply horizontaly and wiggle). The packaging is cute, the product is amazing, GO GET IT NOW!!!

Halloween week at work!!

Hey everyone!!! So as you know, today is halloween and it is one of my FAV holidays!! I get to experiment and play with different ideas and makeup looks. This whole week I had to Portray a different creature or character through my makeup. Monday was Egyptian day so I decided to have fun with blue eyeshadow, black liner, and gold EVERYWHERE!! I used a necklace from Charlotte Russe as my headpiece, and was inspired by the eye of Horus for part of my eye look. The eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, power and health.

image

My my next look was a fun one! It was disney day so we could be any disney character. I ADORE everything disney, but I thought being a disney princess was too simple. I decided to go a different route and become Tim Burton’s version of the mad hatter! This look was created with the help of Makeup forever’s flash pallet. I placed white all over and then used some sugar pill shadows to create my colorful eye and contour look. The best part of this look was I got to creep Philip out (hehe)!

image

(Creepy, no?)

Now our next look was BY FAR my favorite one! We had to do a Tim Burton look so I decided to be Emily from The corpse bride, one of my favorite movies. I wanted to get into character so I watched the movie the night before. I spray painted a grey wig with some blue hairspray and applied tons of blue, black and grey EVERYWHERE to shade and create my corpse bride look. I was EXTREMELY pleased with how this look came out, what do you guys think? image

Our next look was simple and cute. It was mermaid or fairy day. I decided to be a weird mix of both. I used tons of pink and purple shadows, a few stencils and rhinestones thanks to my wonderful cast member Morgann, and Kat Von d everlasting liquid lipstick in Ayesha. I think this was a super cute look!

image

My last look was a popular villain look. I, being the disney fan I am, decided to do Maleficent, Angelina Jolie style. This look was created with all Kat Von d products from her shade and light pallet for the contour, to her thrasher gold eyeshadow and everlasting liquid lipsticks. I used extreme contouring to sculpt those distinct cheekbones that  Angelina Jolie’s version had.

image

So you see my friends, Halloween is such an amazing time of year for a makeup artist! So much creativity, so many ideas, and just plain old fun!! Tell me about your halloween looks and let me know what you thought of mine!!!!

Until we meet again!!

Update time!

Hey everyone!!! It’s been a very crazy few months but here I am, back at it again! I could not leave my blogging behind! I LOVE blogging!  I wanted to give you all a bit of an update on what’s been going on.

I am still working as a makeup artist doing what I love the most, making people feel beautiful while embracing my art. I have been out of date with my YouTube channel, mostly because of how busy I have been. That will no longer be an excuse for me though! I’m going to try and get back at it!! I have become such a closet YouTube fanatic that I have spent my time watching other youtubers and trying to perfect my vision on what I want my channel to be like! We will dive further into that later!!!

Any free time I have has been spent working out at the gym with Philip, or wedding planning with Philip. Yup, you heard that right, WEDDING PLANNING! Wedding planning is no joke, especially when you are doing it all on your own. I plan on doing some wedding advice blogs In the future, especially since I know I could have used some help with planning! I’ll keep you all up to date on our latest wedding ventures without giving too much details on our wedding.

Phil and I have still been going hard working out but we wanna GO HARDER! We have started our “sweating for the wedding” routine and will take you guys along with us to see our progress!

I have a new weekly trending review called haute or hype where I take a product that is hot in the beauty or health world, test it out, and give you my honest review on it (go check out my first one on glamglow powermud)!  If you have any products you want me to review, leave me a comment and I’ll check it out!!!

Well thats it for now, I’ll keep you all posted on the fun I have planned for you!!!

Until we meet again!

YesieMarie ❤
