IMATS 2014!!

yesieimats

Hey friends and welcome back! Early in April, Pier 94 in New York hosted an event for makeup artists around the world. The event is the International Makeup Artist Trade show, also known as the IMATS. Being the makeup addict that I am, I could not miss this event! The IMATS is one of the first events of its kind. This event is specifically for makeup artists around the world. There are lists of very popular and well known vendors in the makeup industry for both fashion and film that all take part in this event. All ticket holders can shop their products at discounted prices (thats the fun part)! There is also a makeup museum at the event with masks and props that are used in film and television. Many of the exhibitors hold classes at different times throughout the event. The IMATS is a three day event with the first day being for pro card members.

This was my third year attending this event and I must tell you, it was the BUSIEST year. There were a few new vendors at the event this year. Two of the most anticipated vendors were Sigma Beauty and Lime Crime.  The lines for these two exhibitors were CRAZY long!!! When I say crazy, I mean two hours long! Did I wait in line? You bet I did! This is the first year that these vendors attended IMATS in NYC. This was my first time playng with the products in person before purchasing. I will say, it was well worth the two hour wait for these products (Reviews to come ASAP).

The whole pier was packed full of exhibitors and classes. If you were tired from standing on line, you could sit and watch professionals do makeovers on models to look either prom ready, or become zombified. You can also take a look at the museum and meet some of the artists whos work is displayed.

IMATS has lately been known as BEAUTY BLOGGER CENTRAL (hence why I was there). You walk around and realize you are shopping next to your favorite youtuber. Some exhibitors hold meet and greets with some of their affiiliates which is pretty fun.  Nicole Guerriero, Jaclyn Hill and Carli Bybel were all working with sigma beauty and all looked FIERCE! I did not get to meet Nicole and Jaclyn but they seemed so sweet and were STUNNIING! I did, however get to meet Carli and her “buppa” Brett twice! Carli also did a meet and greet with velour lashes (you know I love me some Velour). Carli and Brett were both GORGEOUS and if you think they seem nice in their videos, they are TEN TIMES nicer in person. Brett walked the whole line stopping to talk and say hi to everyone. He even spoke to Phil for a while (I forsee a bromance).Carli greeted everyone with her arms wide open and ready for a big hug. She was truly a sweetheart. It was amazing how they took their time to meet everyone that waited. They are both such HUGE inspirations for me as blogger and it was truly special for me to meet them!

I also met an AWEOME young lady by the name of Rachel. She is an up and coming youtuber and such a sweet young lady. Phil and I spent most of our day on line with Rachel and her supportive mother. We discussed lots of beauty trends, what we were going to purchase and who we were looking forward to meeting. We got along SO well. Who knows, maybe we will do a collab? For now, check out her youtube channel, her name is Arleighbeauty and she’s got tons of great reviews!

If all of this sounds amazing, its because it was. I would totally suggest attending an IMATS anywhere near you! Its such a great experience and so worth your time! Expect product reviews to come up here shortly! If any questions or comments, feel free to ask!!

Where have I been?!?

Hello world! I am back! I have missed you all terribly. Now, where have I been you ask? Well, the answer is, I have been totally OUT OF IT! A lot has happened since the last time we spoke. I went through some ups, and some downs that have kept me pre-occupied. One thing is for sure, I promise I have not abandoned you!

I have still been keeping up with my fitness habits, although I am still struggling. I work out and eat healthy. I have tons of new fitness tips to share with you all and I am still here for your support (as I hope you will continue to support me)!

I am still makeup obsessed. That is certainly one thing that will never change. I will continue to share my tricks of the trade with you and do a lot more beauty reviews.

Winter had kept me pretty busy! Holiday season was super crazy. Loads of working as well as loads of shopping! Here in New York we had TOO MUCH SNOW!

There was something pretty amazing that happened during my time off from blogging. PHIL AND I ARE ENGAGED! How stinking exciting?!? I am the happiest woman alive! Here’s how it happened; on the eve of our 8th anniversary, he took me out to dinner. That day 8 years before, Phil and I took a picture in front of the L.O.V.E. statue in the city. We call that the day we found love.

After dinner, we walked by the statue and he told me how much he loved me and that I was the only one for him. He handed me a ring pop and asked me to marry him. I laughed and said yes! As I laughed, he reached in his other pocket and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Words could not describe the shock and emotion I felt. I was for sure, the happiest woman alive! To my surprise, he had our best friends and his brother and fiancé watch and record the whole thing! It was THE perfect proposal! I know, I’m a lucky lady!

My venture into Youtube land!!!!

So, I finally did it. I took the plunge and started my very own Youtube channel!!!! The name of my channel is YesieMarie and I will be giving you my version of makeup tutorials and beauty reviews. I was beyond nervous about starting my venture into youtube land, yet way more excited at the same time.  I’m trying to live my life in a way where I stop being afraid or hold back, and start taking action and have some fun! Starting a youtube channel and doing tutorials was something I had always wanted to do, but held back. Until now that is!

My first video is a blue smokey eye tutorial. I decided that I wanted to do a full face look for this first video so you all can get a feel of how I like to do my makeup. I had so much fun shooting this video.  Here are a few glimpses of my look and video.(Heres the direct link for the video http://youtu.be/7bdqgh1aufM ).

I primed my face with benefit’s POREfessional, and I used Mac’s studio fix foundation in NW20, Mac’s pro-Longwear concealer in NW25. I used L’oreal true match powder in w5 to set the foundation, mac’s definitely defined extra dimension skin finish as a highlight and Glorify as a contour.

The eye shadows that I used for this look were, darkhorse, naked, and buck from the urban decay naked palette (the first one), Alluvium pure pigment by Illamasqua, darkside eyeshadow by mac, and virgin eyeshadow from the naked palette as well to add highlight under the eyebrow and by my tearduct. Marks get in line liquid eyeliner, l’oreal voluminous million lashes mascara and benefit’s they’re real mascara. On the lips, I used Mac’s faux lipstick and nymphette lip gloss.

I also wanted to show you guys the images for my next tutorial so, here they are!!

Check out youtube.com/yesiemarie for the full video

I also want to take this time to thank my Philly bear for all of his hard work in editing my videos as well as supporting me and pushing me to step out of my comfort zone and try something that I’ve always wanted to try. Thanks to my parents for all of their support, and a special shout out to my best friends Dominick Provino and Kristina Bannerman (soon to be Provino) for creating my youtube song! Please keep checking out my channel youtube.com/yesiemarie for more videos and don’t forget to like, subscribe and share the Yesie Marie Love!! Thanks a bunch and keep coming back for more!!!

Until we meet again,
Yesie Marie

Yes I have a problem, no I do not want to fix it!

Ladies and Gents, I have to announce, I AM IN LOVE!! (and not just with Phil)! I just MUST tell you about this AH-MAZING shoe website! The name is Lola Shoetique (isnt the name the cutest)? Now being the skeptic that I am, especially when it comes to online shopping, I was nervous to try this web store. Everything seemed sooo cute but I was most concerned about the quality of the product. Then one day, one of my friends told me about these adorable shoes that she bought. She showed me these shoes and told me that they were super comfy and super affordable. I asked her where she had purchased these shoes and I was not shocked to hear that they were from the one and only Lolashoetique.com!

After my first encounter with these beautiful shoes, I dedided that I would go home and do some research (like I always do with online shopping). I love watching Carli Bybel’s videos on youtube and found out that she did a review on some Lola Shoetique products. She was just as enthusiastic as I was about how cute and fabulous these shoes were. All signs were pointing to me finally making my own purchase at Lola Shoetique (my inner shopaholic screamed FINALLY, YES)! So that night, I went online and bought not only one pair of shoes, but 5 PAIRS OF SHOES! What made me more excited was the fact that the total for all five pairs of shoes only came up to around $130!! FOR 5 PAIRS OF SHOES!! Thats AH-MAZING! Even Philip was amazed by my recent purchase!

I could not wait to recieve my shoes. Lola Shoetique is a family owned business from California that also sells wholesale shoes. Thier order response was SUPER speedy. I got my package about a week after I placed the online purchase. Thats totally amazing for standard shipping online order of shoes. When I got home from work and saw my GIANT package from Lola Shoetique, I SQUEALED in excitement. They have this amazingly cute sign on the package (picture above). The shoes were individually wrapped in this cute pink tulle bag with a cute thank you note and a business card. It felt like everything was done for me personally!

I am so in LOVE with everything about this online shop. I was like a little girl at her birthday party when I opened the box. The shoes looked just as cute in person as they did online. When you are ordering, they tell you about the fit for each shoe and for the most part, they are true to size. Only one pair were a little big but it was perfect for me because I like to put insoles in my super high heels.

I adore this website and intend on ordering more shoes for the fall/winter season ASAP! You can check them out at their website, Lolashoetique.com or their facebook and instagram Lola Shoetique. I promise you wont regret ordering from here. If you know of any other website or product you know of that is interesting and worth the value that you want me to do a review on, please let me know in the comments below. I hope you enjoy this review and spread the word!!!!

Until we meet again
